As a past president of his chapter, Darin Shebesta relied on the foundation FPA NexGen provided to succeed in his leadership role. He continues to be involved as a OneFPA Advisory Council member, helping FPA move forward at both the national and chapter level.

2019 is my year because my extraordinary wife will be joining me in practice!

Within FPA, I’ve been doing more work on the national level, while still being involved locally with NexGen and my chapter. When I first started out in 2006, it was difficult to find peers who understood what I was dealing with as a younger planner. I started looking around and stumbled upon FPA NexGen online. I attended FPA NexGen Gathering in 2008 at St. John's University in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and have since worked to bring NexGen members together in the Greater Phoenix area.

Through FPA NexGen, I found likeminded people who were out to make a difference around the country in financial planning. My door has always been wide open for this group as they helped me feel a sense of community when I was in the beginning stages of building my business in Phoenix.

FPA NexGen provided me a solid foundation for my leadership roles within the FPA of Greater Phoenix chapter. At a national level, I’ve served on the OneFPA Advisory Council and participated in the Journal in the Round and the CFP Ethics presentations, and I welcome the opportunity to present on a larger scale.

I am a champion for the FPA and am engaged and alive within my chapter. 2019—let’s rock and roll!
